Give it a clean subject

The better the separation in the original, the better the result. A subject clearly in front of the background, in even light, with no motion blur, gives the model the most to work with. Backlit subjects and very busy backgrounds are the hardest cases.

Be specific about the scene

"Nice background" gives the model nothing to aim at. "Soft grey studio backdrop", "sunlit café interior", "overcast beach at dusk" each produce something coherent. Describe the light as well as the place — it is what the relighting keys off.
